Stand in solidarity with Louis at his court appearance on Tuesday, August 9th at 1:15pm. 425 Grove St. in St. Paul.
Louis Hunter is one of the protesters arrested as part of a Black Lives Matter protest after the police killing of Philando Castile. Police arrested and/or ticketed 102 protesters for participating in the action. Some are facing simple misdemeanor charges, others gross misdemeanor 3rd degree riot and facing up to a year in prison. Louis, however, is facing two felony counts of 2nd degree riot while armed with a dangerous weapon. He is facing up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. These are incredibly trumped-up charges.
Louis is the second cousin of Philando. His family is grieving and has been through too much already. Now, in addition to supporting his family in this difficult time, Louis is preparing to defend himself in court.
